Documentation

I keep my documentation for this equipment here:

  • /home/jj5/electronics/signal-generator-UNI-T-UTG962E-Signal-Generator/

Particularly I want to check out how to upload custom wav files, the relevant doco is here:

  • /home/jj5/electronics/signal-generator-UNI-T-UTG962E-Signal-Generator/UTG900E software/Instrument Manager Instructions.pdf

Install:

  • /home/jj5/electronics/equipment/signal-generator-UNI-T-UTG962E-Signal-Generator/UTG900E software/DriverPack_Libusb/DriverApp.exe
  • /home/jj5/electronics/equipment/signal-generator-UNI-T-UTG962E-Signal-Generator/UTG900E software/VISA Driver 5.4/setup.exe
  • /home/jj5/electronics/equipment/signal-generator-UNI-T-UTG962E-Signal-Generator/UTG900E software/Devices Manager Installer.exe

Software

Thanks to this I was able to figure a few things out.

I have this software installed and working on 'wonder' (Windows 10), I wasn't able to get it working on 'electra' or 'verve' (Windows 11).

Remote control via USB

Make sure the UNI-T UTG962E signal generator is turned on and connected to 'wonder' via USB.

Open DeviceManager from the desktop on 'wonder'.

Right-click on the UTG900E USB device and choose 'RUN Virtual Control Panel'.

Arbitrary waveform edit and upload

If you want to edit an arbitrary waveform open DeviceManager from the desktop on 'wonder', click 'More' then 'ARB Editor'.

Edit your arbitrary waveform then click 'Down Current ARB'. Pick a file name the file will be saved there.

The program will then try to connect to the UNI-T UTG962E signal generator but it will fail. That's okay because it saved the file.

You can exit out of the ARB Editor and return to the home screen in the DeviceManager.

Right-click on the UTG900E USB device and choose 'RUN Virtual Control Panel'.

Right-click on the screen and choose 'Send ARB file'. Choose the file you saved and click 'LOAD'.

That's it, congratulations, you're done.

Device driver

The correct device driver for this thing seems to be called (in Device Manager): USB Test and Measurement Devices / USB Test and Measurement Device (IVI)

To get the right driver install a recent version of NI-VISA.
