My computer 'insight' is one of my computers in my lab.
This Dell OptiPlex 7040 has been setup to serve as my electronics workstation. It runs Debian 12. I wanted a dedicated computer which had minimal USB devices connected so it's easier for me to find devices which are plugged in. Particularly I will be plugging in microcontroller programmers. Also I wanted a Linux workstation (Debian) instead of a Windows computer for this purpose. I intend to run MPLAB X and Arduino IDE on this computer among other things.
There is documentation from Dell about the OptiPlex 7040. In total I have four Dell OptiPlex 7040's in my lab. Others include 'wonder' and 'surprise'.
I am planning to upgrade the RAM in this from 2x4GB to 2x16GB Kingston HyperX IMPACT DDR4 8GB 16GB RAM 2666 3200 SODIMM Memory Notebook 260pin.
I took out the 128GB SK hynix SC308 SATA drive that came with this computer (which had Windows 10 Pro installed on it) and installed a TOSHIBA KIOXIA 256GB BG5 NVMe SSD M.2 drive instead. The old drive is in the drive drawer in case I need a Windows 10 Pro system.
I installed LTSpice on this computer following these instructions.
