I have a set of three 8TB hard drives which I use for airgap backups.
One disk is left in a USB adapter attached to the airgap processor to receive the latest backups.
Another disk is placed into the airgap restore server to be processed by the airgap restore system. The airgap restore system is "airgapped", meaning it is not usually plugged into the network.
The third disk is taken to a secure location.
Periodically the disks are cycled.
Over the years the airgap disks went from 3TB, to 4TB, to 8TB. The old airgap disks got pressed into service in order and duty.
