I'm feeling a little nostalgic this evening, so, check this out.
The Elliots are a border Clan from the Roxburghshire. Their early history is obscured probably as a result of the destruction of the castle at Stobs in 1712 which housed all the family documents... (more).
This is my family motto:
Fortiter et recte
(with strength and right)
This is my family tartan:
This is my family crest:
This is my clan web-site:
This is the ballad of Wee Jock Elliot:
Nemo me impune lacessit (Who dare meddle with me!)
Ma kinsmen are true, an' brawlie,
At glint o' an enemie,
Round Park's auld Turrets they rally,
An' wha daur meddle wi' me?
Wee Jock Elliot was a bad arse, and wailed on this guy:
In 1566 James Hepburn, 4th Earl of Bothwell, was badly wounded in a skirmish with the Border reiver 'Little Jock' Elliot of Park
I also found a video about our clan, and a story with this cool quote:
When a visitor to Liddesdale found no churches, demanded: "Are there no Christians here?, he received the reply, "Na, we's a' Elliots and Armstrangs."
Soyez Sage,
John Elliot V.
