I was just thinking about putting some more info on the Contact page of my blog. I thought it would be handy to list my phone numbers and addresses there so that my friends would have a consitent place to go to get them, and I got to thinking about my letter box..
I live in a flat, it's sort of at the back of the building, and there is two ways out, one of each side of the building. I tend to go out of the building on the 'non letter box' side, so I rarely pass the letter box. It is also not uncommon for me to not leave the house at all for many days at a time, the long and short of it being that I probably collect my 'snail mail' once a month at best.
Getting the mail has never been a thing that I do. It's not a part of my life, or my routine. I'm not sure if it's laziness, or simply not caring. A part of me is I'm contemptuos of this 'old school' mode of communication, and I don't like the assumption that people expect you to just deal with the things they send you in the mail or the assumption that you receive them.
I know it's 'wrong', but it's what I think.
That said, I really do like it when I get a letter from a friend in the mail, there is something romantic about it.
