When I use the word 'backup' I mean a copy of data that I keep for a period of time, but that I will end up deleting or over writing.
When I use the word 'archive' I mean a copy of data that I will keep forever. Usually when I archive data I stop backing it up and otherwise delete it from my system.
Any other sort of data that I keep 'indefinitely' is just my normal data. If this data is stored in a file system, I just call it a file.
You should use my terminology too, because my terminology is awesome.
Like me, your hero...

( I'm so totally a DJ. DJs are awesome and I am awesome; therefore I am a DJ )
I so hope no one is stupid enough to tell me I made a logic error.
On the other hand, I also hope everyone realises that the stated logic is flawed.
We can only hope.
