Dear Internet,
It's an awesome day today. I really felt alive, driving up to the shops. It's the tail end of winter, but it is a bright sunny day (the birds are singing, etc. ;)
It took me *forever* to find a parking space.
I went to HMV (where I have always gone when I want CDs) and saw all three soundtracks The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.
Since I had $100 I decided to get all three.
They were priced at $101.97.
I asked the girl behind the counter if she would give me all three for $100.
She said no.
I asked again.
She said she can't change the prices.
I told her a few dollars would hardly damage her margins, compared to losing the sale.
She made it clear that she was going to stone wall me, saying “It's not my store, I can't change the prices”.
So I said “OK“ and I walked out.
I found a directory for the shopping centre, and went to the first place that sold music on the list “Borders”.
I went to Borders but they didn't have The Matrix Revolutions on the shelf (that I could see, I was in a hurry, because I'd parked in a dodgy spot ;)
Instead of The Matrix Revolutions I got the Pulp Fiction soundtrack.
I still have $6 left to buy myself a beer this evening.
I'm *never* going to shop at HMV again.
Trust me, I can be stubborn over the smallest of things.
I can't wait for the first time I get to refuse to shop there.
Love,
John.
